THE EVENT

With over 100k attendees from over 160 countries, NAB is one of the biggest tech events of the year. Never one to miss a chance to head to Vegas, NovaStar headed to this year’s show with one main goal in mind: show everyone what HDR is all about.

THE TECH

NovaStar always comes to exhibitions with our best and newest tech in tow, but this year we were particularly excited because a relatively new concept is having a big impact on the future of our industry.  We see HDR as a technology that is going to have a significant influence on the LED industry, as the upgrade it provides to the viewing experience is rather drastic.  Currently, the only solution on the market that can provide a 4K HDR experience is the MCTRL 4K controller, working in concert with NovaStar’s A8s or A10s receiving card.  NovaStar experts were giving presentations throughout the four days of NAB, letting attendees see for themselves how amazing HDR can be.

A NEW SPIN ON AN OLD FAVORITE

Also on display at NAB was the new and improved MCTRL 660 Pro.  The original 660 was already very popular due to its low latency, but the Pro version features several significant upgrades.  The low latency of the original remains, but resolution has been improved.  Support for image mirroring has also been added to this model.  Finally, more optical outputs have been added, which is something we’ve never heard anyone complain about!

A PERFECT PAIR

Also getting some love was the J10 multi-screen video switcher.  This high-performance unit supports 9 inputs and 4 DVI outputs at the same time.  When paired with the C1 console, they become a powerful solution for stage control, high-end rentals, large exhibitions, and other applications.

IN CLOSING…

NAB 2018 was awesome as usual.  So much great technology packed into one exhibition center really gets us going.  We had a great time meeting and interacting with so many attendees, and were glad to see how excited everyone was about HDR and how it is going to impact our industry.  See you all next year!
